Actimux POWER-S: HS12A/LS9A outputs description

This page describes how the output OUT02, can be used in the POWER-S.
These outputs can be used alone dynamic output, as a half Bridge outputs (in pair).
The protection profile apply only to the HS outputs. The only protection available for LS outputs is for shorts-circuits.

1-Dynamic alone output
2-Bridge output

1-Dynamic alone output

To correctly use the output, we must set a various number of parameters and connect mnemonics.
1.1-Parameters

Parameters, for each output, are classified in different categories :

Category parameter Description
General 'Alone' ( full Bridge not used)
When a output is commanded alone and need to use LS function, it's necessary to use it in Push-Pull mode always (Output-Boo stay ON always, and HS_LS used only).
'Full Bridge'

If this box is checked the output toggle function 'BRIDGE' with the other output associated with it. The outputs OUT01 and OUT02 form the first bridge, and the outputs OUT03 and OUT04 form the second bridge. The operation 'Full BRIDGE' is possible only if the two outputs forming the bridge are free.
'Current FeedBack'
Must be checked if the user want a feedback of the current in the output.
'Load Type'
Configure the type of load connected to the ECU output
'Frequency range'
The output can operate on two different frequency ranges, this parameter determines the range to use 'High' or 'Low'.
'Frequency'
This parameter determines the frequency for the output, the range of possible values is determined by the previous parameter 'frequency range'.
  • For low range value go from 60 to 500 Hz with a step of 10Hz.
  • For high range value go from 550 to 1000 Hz with a step of 50Hz.
  • 'Recurr. Period: OUT_CMD'
Set the recurrence time of the Frame 'OUT_CMD' sent by the master ECU to command the slave's outputs. This parameter is common for all the outputs of the POWER ECU.
    'Recurr. Period: OUT_I'
If the option 'Current Feedback' is checked, we must set the recurrence time of the frame 'OUT_I' sent by the POWER to inform about the value of current in its outputs.
    This parameter is common for all the outputs OUT01, OUT02, OUT03, OUT04, OUT05, OUT06, OUT07, OUT08, OUT19, OUT20, BRIDGE1 and BRIDGE2.
    Degraded Mode 'Degraded Mode'
To use or not this output in degraded mode
    'Polarisation 1er cycle'
The output can be activated in HS or LS in the first cycle of the degraded mode
    '1s cycle'
Configure the state of the output in the first cycle of degraded mode (On/Off)
    'Polarisation 2nd cycle'
The output can be activated in HS or LS in the second round of the degraded mode
    '2nd cycle'
Configure the state of the output in the second cycle of degraded mode (On/Off)
    Protection Profile 'Auto Calculate'
if this option is checked ,the protection profile parameters values are automatically calculated by ActiGRAF with the Nominal Load.
    'OC_Range', 'OC_MThld','OC_HThld', 'OC_NThld' et OC_Time
These parameters are used to obtain the protection profile, we have two profiles :
    i-Protection Profile For lamps
    ii-Protection Profile For motors
    Diagnostic 'Authorize MasterMode'
If this option is checked, the output can be controlled in Master mode during a diagnostic session

Alert! Advanced: Warning : Frames exchanged between the master and slaves induce a load on the used CAN BUS. This charge is inversely proportional to the value of recurrence.

    i- Protection Profile For lamps

This profile will be used if the load attached to the output is one of these types : 'Bulb Load' or 'Resistive Load'. The protection profile for bulb is activated once when the output is turned ON. The output is immediately switched OFF when the current cross up the profile. This profile is described in the graphic below. This graphic is made using the previously cited five parameters.

    Lamp Protection Profile

    ii-Protection Profile For motors

As well as for Lamps, except this profile is applied when the load attached is "Motion Motor Load" or "Fan Motor Load". The following graphic describe the behaviour in the motor case :

    Motors Protection Profile

    1.2-Mnemonics

The mnemonics names for Powers ECU IO must applies a set of rules more details.

To activate and use an output, command values must be sent (ON/Off, duty cycle, current ...). This is done by connecting the mnemonics (presenting physical entities of the outputs) to their correspondent variable (functional outputs entities) declared and used in the EA application.
Bellow a description of each mnemonic and its use in the output :

    Mnemonic STraToN Type Description
    'Output_Boo'
BOOL this is the logical command of the output(activated or not). If this mnemonic is not used (connected) the output is not used.
    'HS_LS'
BOOL is the variable to control the activation level of the output "0" means that the output should be set to 'HS', and the value "1" means that the output should be set to 'LS'. The hardware configuration must be compatible, otherwise the output will not be activated.
    'Output_Dyn'
WORD This mnemonic must be connected to the variable EA application containing the value of duty cycle.
    'Fault'
BOOL This mnemonic is used to retrieve a default on the output, in this case the variable connected to it will take the Boolean 'TRUE'
    'Fault_type'
BOOL In the case of a default, the variable connected to this mnemonic will indicate the type of default:
  • 0 : short circuit fault.
  • 1 : open circuit fault.
  • 'Current'
WORD This mnemonic will only be available if 'current Feedback' is selected. Variable connected to this mnemonic will contain the value of current applied to the output. The current measurement unit is 1 mA.
This value is not to be used in case of LS output.
    'Equipment'
BOOL The usage of the variables of default is not active while the variable connected to this mnemonic has its value to 'False' ( more details ).

    2-Bridge output

If 'Full Bridge' is selected, we will have two more parameters to configure in the 'General' section . A new section 'failure Parameters' will appears. You have just to change the values in one output, values are correlated between the two outputs forming the bridge.

    2.2-Parameters

when used in bridge, all parameter are greyed in OUT02, they can be modified via the first Half bridge OUT01.
    Category parameter Description
    General 'Filter Value'
Indicates the coefficient for the function of filtering the current
    'Bridge Breaking Time'
This sets the time taken by the bridge to change direction, if the direction change takes place while output is active
    failure Parameters 'Low threshold'
To set the minimum value of current with which the output can operate without a trace default
    'High threshold'
To set the maximum value of current with which the output can operate without a trace default

Alert! Advanced: The parameters that define the profile of protection of bridge outputs, can be set only through the first half-bridge outputs : OUT01 .

    2.2-Mnemonics
The mnemonics names for Powers ECU IO must applies a set of rules more details.

For a bridge output we have the following mnemonics:

    Mnemonic STraToN Type Description
    'Output_Bridge'
BOOL This is the variable to control the output (Active or not) must be connected to the EA application variable dedicated to control the Bridge state in the application part. If this mnemonic is not connected then the output will not be used and the mnemonics that follow will have no effect.
    'Direction_Bridge'
BOOL is the variable to control the direction of the bridge. A bridge have two directions:
1-"Forward" : first half-bridge in HS and second in the LS. The variable in this case is set to "0".
2-"Reverse" :is reversed, the first output forming the bridge in LS and HS in the second. In this case the variable takes the value "1".

    'Output_Dyn_Bridge'
WORD This mnemonic must be connected to the EA application variable indicating the dynamic value ( a duty cycle) of the output
    'Fault_Bridge'
BOOL This mnemonic is used to retrieve a default on the output in this case the variable connected to it will take the Boolean 'TRUE'
    'Fault_type_Bridge'
BOOL In the case of a defect, the variable connected to this mnemonic will indicate the type of defect. If the variable is 'TRUE', it is a short circuit default and if it is set to "FALSE" the default is an open circuit.
    'CThresholdFail_br'
BOOL Variable connected to this mnemonic will indicate if the defect is caused by exceeding the hardware threshold in this case the value is 'FALSE', or an overrun of a software threshold that set the value to 'TRUE'.
    'Current_Bridge'
WORD This mnemonic will only be available if 'current feedback' is selected. Variable connected to this mnemonic will contain the value of current applied to the output
    'Equipment_Bridge'
BOOL Default variables usage is not Active , as the value of this variable is set to 'FALSE' ( more details ).
