Fault codes / event codes

The fault code is a hexadecimal number that contains encoded information on the fault location and fault type. This code informs the vehicle master computer, for example, whether and what type of event has occurred. At the same time, ALADIN uses this code, e.g., to display repair instructions.

Fault code: 0x00000000

Fault code:        000000h (alternative notation)

A complete fault code is comprised of the designation components system, fault location, fault location type and fault type.
The components system, fault location and fault location type form the fault source. The fault code is usually displayed as a hexadecimal number (long value).
