FAQ

Event memory

Once I have deleted a fault, why is it not entered again immediately?

Within the transmission control unit, every fault signals both when it occurs (becomes active) and when it disappears (becomes passive). If the event memory is cleared after a fault has been entered, the fault must signal its disappearance first before it can be entered again. A new entry can thus only be made in the next operating cycle (ignition ON / OFF) or if the fault status changes from active to passive and to active again.

Why do some events have no time stamps?

Date and absolute time indications are signalled to the transmission control unit via the CAN bus. If the vehicle does not send this information on the CAN bus, this data cannot be entered in the event memory. Furthermore, the control units in the vehicle need a certain time until all the data has been exchanged via the CAN bus. This is why the date and time indications are not yet provided when the control unit is switched on. For further information, please see: Time stamps in event memory entries

After how much time are faults deleted automatically from the event memory?

This time is set in the dataset of the vehicle. The default value is 200 hours. For further information, please see: Operational principle and clearing the event memory

Indices

I have an ECU file without indices. How can it happen?

If you have read out the event memory using the Events window and created a report using this information, the operating data has not been read out (ECU file is not complete). Please always perform an upload to create a complete report.

Why are the indices of the first 100km so imprecise?

Integers are used for calculating the index value. The rounding error on the first 100 km is therefore greater than 1%.

Reporter (general)

Why do I not see all faults / report areas / operating data?

The ALADIN settings allow you to configure the information displayed in the report. For further information, please see: Report
