The function software
The software in the transmission control unit comprises of three parts: a function software, a dataset and a Boot Loader.
The transmission software is the functional core of the transmission control system. The function software is configured using an appropriate dataset. In short: The function software defines how something is calculated, the dataset includes the values for calculation. The software designation comprises of a hardware identifier, a software identifier and the file extension ".hex". The software for a transmission control unit of the "E300.1" series, a DIWA transmission "D" und the software version "5.2.0.0" would have the following name: E300.1-D5.2.0.0.hex.
