Description

Implausible "kick-down active" via CAN and digital input.

The dataset in the transmission control unit defines on which pin the signal is provided. On this help page??? ALADING provides the current assignemt of this signal???. The signal is marked yellow in the pin assignment of the transmission control unit.

Effects on the driving operation

No kick-down active and thus no kick-down shifting points.

Possible causes

Kick-down active was detected while the position of the accelerator pedal is merely smaller than or equal 50 %. Possible causes are:

* with kick-down via digital signal: Short-circuit at connector or pin or sensor defective.

* with CAN signals, there may be an implausible value in the CAN message.

Troubleshooting

NOTE

The following service work may only be performed by persons who are authorised by the vehicle manufacturer:

  • Loading software and/or datasets into the transmission control unit.
  • Service work at vehicle components which are not included in the VOITH delivery.

Please make sure that both the accelerator pedal and the kick-down switch operate correctly.

With digital signals, please check connector and cabling.

With CAN signals, check the CAN message (with SAE J1939 EEC2 (Electronic Engine Controller #2), CAN signal: 'kick-down switch' .)

Final function check

If the defective component cannot be clearly identified, you should try to reproduce the fault:

  • Reinstall the component in the vehicle.
  • Test the function.

After the fault has been eliminated, the following steps have to be carried out:

  • Conduct a test drive with function check.
  • Read out the fault memory.
  • Check the transmission for leaks.
  • Perform a final visual inspection.

These steps are necessary to ensure the entire vehicle functions.
