ECU software dependency

This document is valid for the ECU software E300.1-D5.0.0.0.

Introduction

Construction of a 29 bit CAN identifier

priority
(3 bit)
R1
(1 bit)
DP
(1 bit)
PDU format
(8 bit)
PDU specific
(8 bit)
source address
(8 bit)

R1 = reserved bit, DP = data page

Example: ERC1: CAN-ID: 18F00010h

11000111100000000000000010000

CAN addresses of Voith components

  • retarder: 10h (16d)
  • transmission: 03h (3d)

CAN addresses of other vehicle components default values

  • brake system: 0Bh (11d)
  • cruise control 11h (17d)
  • engine: 0h (0d)
  • shift console primary 5h (5d)
  • management computer 27h (39d)

Priority bits are masked to „don’t care“ (priority of a message isn’t evaluated by E300-ECU)

Received messages: required or optional?

Some of the received messages are necessary in order to make the transmission system work together with the vehicle.

The received messages are evaluated by the transmission electronic control units’ internal software modules seperately. Each software module polls the required information on its own.

The following table describes, which messages are required and which are optional.

messagerequiredoptional
ASC1x
CCVSx
EBC1x
EBC3x
EBC5x
ECx
EEC1x
EEC2x
EEC3x
LFCx
Request PGNx
TC1x (without Voith CAN gear range selector)x (with Voith CAN gear range selector)
TDx
TSC1x
NACKx
VDHRx

If a message came once, it is expected in the specified time cycles - timeouts occur, if the message came once and afterwards not in the specified time or never again.

For each message a source address can be specified in the transmission electronic control units’ dataset. The TSC1 message has three source addresses. That means, that the source addresses can vary from vehicle to vehicle, so the described CAN identifiers are only examples in this document.
