Description

The internal logic of the microcontroller in the transmission control reports a so-called 'Class-B Hardware Trap'. Processing of the running program was interrupted.

The hardware trap refers to an access to an unconfigured external bus.

-> Illegal External Bus Access Flag - ILLBUS.

Hardware traps are caused by errors or special system conditions within the microcontroller.

There are 'Class A traps' and 'Class B traps'.

Effects on the driving operation

Reset of the transmission control unit

The operating mode may switch to 'forced neutral'. It is no longer possible to engage a gear in that case.

Possible causes

The software attempts to access an unconfigured external data bus.

Place of action

No description available.

Troubleshooting

NOTE

The following service work may only be performed by persons who are authorised by the vehicle manufacturer:

  • Loading software and/or datasets into the transmission control unit.
  • Service work at vehicle components which are not included in the VOITH delivery.

Load the latest software version approved for the vehicle.

If the fault persists, please consult the VOITH customer service and state the type of fault and the system description of the fault location.

Setting conditions of the event

No description available.

Test conditions of the event

No description available.

Final function check

If the defective component cannot be clearly identified, you should try to reproduce the fault:

  • Reinstall the component in the vehicle.
  • Test the function.

After the fault has been eliminated, the following steps have to be carried out:

  • Conduct a test drive with function check.
  • Read out the fault memory.
  • Check the transmission for leaks.
  • Perform a final visual inspection.

These steps are necessary to ensure the entire vehicle functions.
