Description

Poor signal quality

The measured pulse durations/period durations vary more than allowed (no continuous signal available).

Effects on the driving operation

If the cause of the message is the edge form of the n1 measuring gear, this has no effect on the driving behavior at all.

In the case of other causes, the following responses may occur:

Hard shiftings.

Driving in reverse gear is not possible or restricted

If the output speed sensor is simultaneously defective, only limp-home mode available

No torque limitation dependent on the engine speed

Engine torque reduction is limited

The characteristic curve of the auxiliaries is not considered.

The engine speed and the values derived on its basis are incorrectly set in the CAN communication.

Possible causes

Starting the engine might lead to rotary oscillations during which it will not be possible for a short time to determine a coherent speed signal, depending on the edge form of the n1 measuring gear.

These are usually short, sporadic measurement interruptions.

This behavior can occur with all transmissions of the year of construction of 2005, in which measuring gears with a specific edge form are installed.

Place of action

Speed sensor n1

Instruction

There is no action required if the message was caused by the edge form of the n1 measuring gear.

Setting conditions of the event

No description available.

Test conditions of the event

No description available.
