The ECU file format

With ALADIN 3.0 and higher, a distinction is made between two different ECU file formats. The normal format that has been created as of ALADIN 1.0 and the extended format as of ALADIN 3.0.

The extended format is an expansion of the normal format and contains not only diagnostic data but also the complete memory of a control unit. On this basis, equivalent control units can be programmed from an ECU file using the clone function.

These equivalent control units have the same software, dataset, EOL parameters and the same contents as the operating data or history storage at the time of the upload.

The extended format is created by default in ALADIN version 3.0.

You can select the format in the ALADIN setup. For further information, please see: ALADIN setup.
