Using the Network function in the Recorder
The Recorder allows you to transmit measuring and ECU data to another PC via a network connection. A TCP/IP connection between the two PCs is sufficient as a network connection. This can be done, for example, via the Internet, Intranet, telephone or WLAN. For further information on network connections, see the Microsoft Windows help.
The PC that is connected directly to the control unit is used as a DIANA5 server. For this purpose, the PC must have been activated as a server in the DIANA5 Setup. Click File > Program Properties... in the Recorder. The DIANA5 Setup window appears. Select the Activate DIANA5 server function in the Recording tab.
The PC that requests the measuring data from the server is the client. There are two possible procedures for the client.
Logging a running server recording is possible if the server Recorder is either in the Standby or in the
Record mode. To do so, click the menu item File > Connect via Network in the client Recorder. A dialog box appears where you have to enter the server IP address. After confirming with the OK button, the client attempts to build up a connection with the server. If the connection has been established, the loaded measuring file template of the server is first transmitted to the client. Afterwards, the measuring data is transferred continuously. The client can now use this measuring data for a normal measuring data recording. The trigger functions can also be used for the received measuring data. The measuring data resolution on the client depends on the respective network connection but is in any case lower than that on the server.

Instead of a direct connection via the K-line interface, the client is connected to the control unit using a network connection with this method. For this purpose, the Network entry must be selected instead of a COM port in the program settings of the client Recorder. Click File > Program Properties... in the Recorder. The DIANA5 Setup window appears. Select the Network COM port in the Network tab.
The "Activate DIANA5 Server" function must have been selected on the server and the Recorder must be open. Click
File > Program Properties... in the Recorder. The DIANA5 Setup window appears. Select the Activate DIANA5 server function in the Recording tab. Now click the Record button in the client Recorder. A dialog box appears where you have to enter the server IP address. Exit the dialog box with the OK button. The client now attempts to build up a connection with the DIANA server. If the connection has been established, the client Recorder is immediately ready for recording. If a direct connection has been established, the server itself cannot perform a measurement.
