SensoTop

SensoTop is an acceleration and topography-dependent gear shifting strategy based on the acceleration-dependent BASP gear shifting program enhanced by road surface inclination detection.

The task of SensoTop is to achieve optimal shift points for every driving situation. The driving situation is influenced by the load, road surface inclination (topography) and the driver's performance requirement. The shift points are calculated individually for each shifting operation depending on the set characteristic curve.

SensoTop - General information
  • Always defines lower shifting speeds than BASP
  • Permits higher speeds (= higher performance) only if the performance is required (uphill)
  • Reduces the performance where it is not required (downhill)
  • Reduces the average performance
  • Makes better use of the acceleration dependence logic by means of dynamic vehicle evaluation

SensoTop - ECO
  • Low engine speeds and high gears are always used. Early upshifts to achieve high gears are desired
  • Vehicle remains longer in a gear until downshift is initiated.

SensoTop - POWER
  • Requires higher performance and quicker response of a vehicle
  • Requires early downshifts, especially in uphill sections, in order to provide the required performance quickly on the driveline
