The dataset

The software in the transmission controller comprises three parts: Function software, a dataset and a boot loader. The purpose of the dataset is to configure the functions of the transmission software. The dataset is used, for example, to configure shift programs, define calculation values, configure flexible inputs / outputs or define CAN receive messages. In short: The function software defines how something is calculated and the dataset contains the values for the calculation. A complete dataset comprises approx. 1000 different configuration variables. The full name of a dataset includes the identifier of the associated function software, consisting of the version and the associated hardware, a dataset identifier and the file extension ".hex". A dataset for the E300.1-D5.2.0.0 software with the dataset identifier "08154711" would have the following name: E300.1-D5.2.0.0-08154711.hex. In this type of designation, you can see from the name what combination of hardware, software and dataset goes together.
