VDD file (Voith Dataset Description File)

A VDD file is a file that contains a dataset in plain text. The VDD file contains all dataset variables and dataset values. Unlike a dataset that is always provided in the Intel hex format and can be read only by the control unit, a VDD file can be opened and read using any editor, e.g.,  Microsoft Excel.

VDD files always have the extension ".vdd". The file name is always identical to the corresponding software version. For example, the name of the VDD file for software version E300.1-D5.3.0.0.hex is E300.1-D5.3.0.0.vdd  and can be found in the ALADIN subfolder "VDD". This folder contains the VDD files for all dataset versions that are provided for the transmission control units of the E300 and E300.1 series.
