Using the Monitors - Control Elements window

The Control Elements tab displays the current position of the brake switch/pedal, the accelerator pedal and the Voith gear range selector E330 in real time.

How to open Monitors - Control Elements:

Select Service > Monitor 1 > Control elements in the main window. If there is communication with a connected transmission control unit, the current status of the control elements is displayed automatically.

If communication with a transmission control unit is not possible, this will be indicated by a at the bottom right of the window:

This message is also displayed when communication with a connected transmission control unit has been interrupted.

For help in the event of communication problems, please refer to: Communication problems.

Once you have eliminated the communication problems, click "Yes" if ALADIN is to re-establish communication with a transmission control unit. An existing communication is shown by the progress bar.

The display of the control elements:

The display of the current accelerator pedal position:

  • Field A
Display of the accelerator pedal position
Value Description
Error A fault occurred at the accelerator pedal. Perform an upload for selective troubleshooting. For further information, please see: Upload.
Value Displays the accelerator pedal position in per cent
0% = Accelerator pedal not applied
100% = Accelerator pedal fully depressed

  • Field B
    Display of the engine torque

Value Description
Error A fault occurred. Perform an upload for selective troubleshooting. For further information, please see: Upload.
Value Displays the current engine torque in Nm.
  • Field C
Trend display of the accelerator pedal position.

The display of the current brake switch/pedal positions:

The display of the current brake switch/pedal position visualizes the brake request of the hand brake switch and the foot brake pedal. The brake switch/pedal can be mounted in the vehicle both as a continuously variable or a three-stage brake switch/pedal. The variant (three-stage / continuously variable) is adjusted in the dataset.

  • Field A
Display of the current stage of a three-stage hand brake switch
  • Field B
Display of the current stage of a three-stage foot brake pedal

  • Field C
Displays the brake pedal position in per cent.

Value Description
n.av. Not available. There is no value for the brake request of the foot brake pedal. Perform an upload for selective troubleshooting. For further information, please see: Upload.
Value Displays the accelerator pedal position in per cent.
0% = Brake pedal not applied
100% = Brake pedal fully depressed

  • Field D
    Brake request in Nm

Value Designation
n.av. Not available. There is no value for the current brake request. Perform an upload for selective troubleshooting. For further information, please see: Upload.
Value Displays the retarder braking torque requested by the vehicle from the transmission control unit in Nm.
  • Field E
Trend display of the foot brake pedal position.

  • Field F
Braking torque currently implemented by the retarder.

The display of the current gear selected by the gear range selector:

The gear range selector shown below indicates whether and what key is detected as engaged by the transmission control unit. The engaged key is highlighted in color. If no gear range selector is detected, all keys displayed are highlighted black. If an existing gear range selector is not detected by the transmission control unit, carry out an upload .

Engaging a gear range key (1, 2, 3, D and R) only means that driving is intended. This intention to drive is displayed here in the Monitors window. The transmission control unit also checks whether the intention to drive can be accepted. The real gear range selector has several flashing codes that indicate, for example, the refusal of engaging gears. The flashing codes are not displayed in the Monitors window.

Example:

Display of gear range selector Description
The transmission control unit has detected a connected gear range selector.
The transmission control unit detects the engagement of the N key (neutral).
The transmission control unit detects the engagement of key 3.

For further information on the flashing codes of the gear range selector, please refer to: Fault indicator on gear range selector.

The general display in Monitors:

The general display is shown in every tab of the Monitors window.

On top, there are four symbols for:

Symbol Description
General transmission fault.
General retarder fault.
Transmission temperature too high.
Retarder temperature too high.

Below, there is the real-time display of the following signals:

Signal Description
n1 Engine speed / transmission input speed
n2 Transmission output speed
n3 Turbine speed
FP Accelerator pedal position
BP Brake pedal position
Time Display of the sample time (for debugging tasks only)
