Description

The gear information of the gear range selector lies outside the allowed range:

At least one of the CAN signals Requested Gear or Requested Range is outside the allowed value range.

With DIWA.5 ´Requested Gear´ serves to read the information on the driving direction; ´Requested Range´ is used to determine the allowed gear range.

Effects on the driving operation

Driving is not possible.

The transmission shifts to neutral.

The optional limp-home switch allows continuing the drive.

Possible causes

Defect of the Voith CAN gear range selector or defect of the MAN-FFR (vehicle control computer) for systems without Voith CAN gear range selector.

In MAN vehicles with TEPS structure, this fault occurs regularly. The problem is known and eliminated by MAN.

The message TC1 is affected.

Place of action

No description available.

Instruction

Replace gear range selector.

In vehicles with MAN-FFR (vehicle control computer), contact the manufacturer and replace the FFR or the gear range selector connected to it.

Final function check

If the defective component cannot be clearly identified, you should try to reproduce the fault:

  • Reinstall the component in the vehicle.
  • Test the function.

After the fault has been eliminated, the following steps have to be carried out:

  • Conduct a test drive with function check.
  • Read out the fault memory.
  • Check the transmission for leaks.
  • Perform a final visual inspection.

These steps are necessary to ensure the entire vehicle functions.
