Program properties
Prior to using the Recorder for measuring data acquisition, we recommend adjusting the Program Properties to suit your requirements. These settings are especially important for communication with a Voith control unit. Communication via the serial interface (COM1) in connection with a serial K-line interface is the standard configuration.
Click File > Program Properties in the Recorder. The Setup window appears.
To ensure that all changes of the Recorder setup are transferred, you must exit the Setup window using the
OK
button. If you want to discard the changes, click the Cancel button.
The general settings are made in the Common tab. This tab contains all settings for enabling your Recorder version (Registration Information) and the general options (Options). A release is not required for the current Recorder version.

Here you can enter any e-mail address to send a measuring file directly from the Recorder.
Here you can set your preferred program language. The following languages are available: German, English, Spanish, French, Italian and Russian.
Here you can activate the output of acoustic messages.

The "Directories" tab defines the directories to be used by the Analyzer. If you want to change a directory, click the corresponding button, e.g.: Recordings. The "Browse" dialog box then appears. Navigate to the required directory and exit the dialog box with "OK". If you do not want to change a directory, exit the dialog box using the Cancel button. Alternatively, you can enter the directory name in the text field to the right of the corresponding button.

Directories used:
| Recordings |
Your new measuring files are saved in this directory.
|
| Templates |
This directory contains the measuring template files.
|
| VarFiles |
This directory contains the so-called VarFiles.
|
| Dataset |
This directory contains the datasets for the control unit software versions. |
| Temporary Files |
This directory stores the Analyzer files that are created and required during the runtime. |
| Fault Memory Help |
This directory contains the fault help for the event memory of the E300 / E300.1 transmission control units.
|
| VarFile Help |
This directory contains the HTML help for the dataset constants. |
 |
Note! When changing directories, please make sure you have the appropriate read and write rights for these directories.
Changes in the directory structure may affect the program execution. |

This tab is used to make the settings for communication with the control units and the measuring equipment.

Communication with a control unit is configured in this area.
- When using a serial K-line interface (level converter):
COM Port: Here you can set the RS232 port (COM port) the K-line interface has been connected to.
Baudrate (KWP): Here you can set the Baud rate to be used for communication between the PC and the control unit. "Default" has been preset. This setting enables communication with any transmission control unit irrespective of the vehicle manufacturer.
You can select the "Network" entry additionally. This causes the Recorder to record the data via a DIANA5 server. You can also set your PC in such a way that it works as a DIANA5 server. For this purpose, select the "Activate DIANA5 Server". For further information on sending measuring data via a network, please refer to:
Using the Network function in the Recorder.
Maximum possible Baud rate:
| E200 |
38400 |
| E300 |
115200 |
| E300.1 |
57600 |
- When using the K-line USB interface:
If you want to establish communication with a control unit using the Voith K-line USB interface, activate the option "Use VOITH K-Line-USB-Interface".
 |
Note! The USB interface can be used with transmission control units of the E300 / E300.1 series only. Before you can use the USB interface, you must have installed the appropriate driver first. |
For further information on the K-line interface, please see:
K-line interfaces.

| Auto Record (Datalogger Mode) |
This option provides the following functions:
- The Recorder attempts to start communication with the measuring devices until it is successful.
- This process can only be cancelled by exiting the Recorder.
- When a measuring template file is loaded, the Recorder immediately goes to the recording mode.
- If communication is interrupted for more than 10 seconds during an ECU measurement, a new measuring file will be created.
- The program does not query before saving measuring files.
|
| Activate DIANA5 Server |
Activates the Recorder as a DIANA5 measuring server. |
| Calibrate A/D on Startup |
Calibrates the A/D converters at program start. This function can only be used with restrictions in the current version. |
| Ask for Recording Details |
Measuring information is requested prior to recording measuring data. |
| Use VOITH K-Line-USB-Interface |
The USB K-line interface is used instead of a serial K-line interface. |
| Minimize ECU-Data-Download |
Extended ECU contents are not downloaded during the download of ECU data from a control unit (e.g., RIO or maintenance data). This considerably enhances the upload. |
