A fault occurred during CAN communication.
There are two possible reasons for this fault:
| Fault type | Troubleshooting |
| CAN bus hardware fault | Check the CAN bus line: Terminating resistors (together approx. 60 Ω) missing? (series connection of 2x 120Ω = measured 60 Ω) Short-circuit between CAN-L and CAN-H? Short-circuit of CAN-L to supply voltage? Short-circuit of CAN-H to ground or supply voltage? CAN-H or CAN-L line interrupted? CAN-H swapped with CAN-L line? |
| Timeout caused by the engine control unit | It must be ensured that the engine control unit supports communication to SAE-J1939 via CAN bus. Does the engine control unit report any faults? |
| CAN module is not installed | In this case, the transmission control unit is not suited for CAN communication:
Use a control unit with a CAN module or use the correct data record. |
| No valid CAN protocol set in the data record. | Replace data record |
