Description

The transmission control unit does not receive any information on the selected gear from the CAN gear range selector.

At least one of the CAN signals ´Requested Gear´ or ´Requested Range´ is not available.

With DIWA.5, ´Requested Gear´ serves to read the information on the driving direction; ´Requested Range´ is used to determine the allowed gear range.

The transmission shifts to neutral.

The optional limp-home switch allows continuing the drive.

Possible causes

CAN communication disturbed.

Defect of the Voith CAN gear range selector or defect of the MAN-FFR (vehicle control computer) for systems without Voith CAN gear range selector.

The message TC1 is affected.

Place of action

No description available.

Instruction

Check control units.

Final function check

If the defective component cannot be clearly identified, you should try to reproduce the fault:

  • Reinstall the component in the vehicle.
  • Test the function.

After the fault has been eliminated, the following steps have to be carried out:

  • Conduct a test drive with function check.
  • Read out the fault memory.
  • Check the transmission for leaks.
  • Perform a final visual inspection.

These steps are necessary to ensure the entire vehicle functions.
