Description

A stable signal could not be determined while detecting the current button redundancy signals over a prolonged period of time because the statuses are changing continuously (contact bouncing of the button redundancy signals).

Effects on the driving operation

The transmission shifts to neutral.

After applying neutral and re-engaging the gear, driving may be possible again. If not, replace the gear range selector.

The limp-home switch allows activating the limp-home mode.

Possible causes

Loose contact at the buttons or soldering joints.

Gear range selector defective.

Place of action

No description available.

Instruction

Replace gear range selector.

Final function check

If the defective component cannot be clearly identified, you should try to reproduce the fault:

  • Reinstall the component in the vehicle.
  • Test function.

After the fault has been eliminated, the following steps have to be carried out:

  • Conduct a test drive with function check.
  • Read the fault memory
  • Check transmission for leaks.
  • Perform a final visual inspection.

These steps are necessary to ensure the entire vehicle functions correctly.
