The function software

The software in the transmission controller comprises three parts: Function software, a dataset and a boot loader.

The transmission software is the functional core of the transmission control system. The function software is configured using an appropriate dataset. In brief: The function software defines how something is calculated, the dataset contains the values for calculation. The software designation comprises a hardware identifier, a software identifier and the file extension ".hex". The software for a transmission controller "E300.1", a DIWA transmission "D" and the software version "5.2.0.0" has the following name: E300.1-D5.2.0.0.hex.
